From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Maxwell Benster is a British-American theologian, man of letters, and bon vivant.

Born to a British father and American mother in New York in 2001, Benster was raised in Henley-upon-Thames alongside his sister, Isobel, and brother, Jake.

Benster attended Eton College[1], where he was awarded an Oppidan Scholarship for his performance in internal examinations, 'trials'. He entered, and won, the St. Andrews Theology essay competition in his final year and was offered a scholarship to attend the university, which he turned down.

After Eton, Benster spent a year in Central and South America studying liberation theology, during which time he immersed himself in the party scene of Mexico City.

He later went up to Oriel College, Oxford in October 2021. Whilst an undergraduate, he achieved the highest results in his cohort and recieved two Faculty prizes[2] for his performance. He was also active in college and university life, including involvement with Oxford’s Jewish Society and serving as Jewish chair for the Interfaith Scriptural Reasoning Society. He was recognised at the 2023 Oxford Encaenia[3], an honour marking his distinction among undergraduates. Alongside academic work in theology and the Hebrew Bible, he developed particular interests in ancient Judaism, scriptural interpretation, and oarsmanship.

After his undergraduate studies, he progressed directly to an MPhil in Theology at Oxford as an Ertegun Graduate Scholar[4], continuing at Oriel under the supervision of Professor Hindy Najman.

Aside from his theological studies, he has been identified as a member of the 'Notting Hill Set'. He is also a keen collector of vintage cars, a skilled and fearless skier, and indefatigable horologist.

Benster splits his time between Ibiza, Berlin, and London and is a member of White's, the Turf Club, the Leander Club, and 5 Hertford Street.
