Maxwell Pierson Gaddis (born 1811) was an Irish-American author and Methodist itinerant preacher. He is best known for his autobiographical novel, Foot-prints of an Itinerant that gives a detailed rendition of his family's journey, via sea, from their homeland of Ireland to the United States. The novel is widely read in colleges and universities today. Gaddis has written three other novels either involving his own life recollections or his experiences in his profession as a Methodist itinerant preacher. Gaddis died in 1888.
