Mayhem Brawler is a side-scroller Beat 'em up game that takes place in Mayhem City. Mayhem Universe is an Urban Fantasy universe created by Serkan Özay in 2013. The game is being developed by Hero Concept studio and uses the Unity Engine.
Indie titles such as Castle Crashers, Dragon's Crown, The TakeOver and Fight'N Rage revived the beat 'em up genre, and this trend continued with titles like Streets of Rage 4 supported by SEGA and Battletoads backed by Microsoft. Gameplay
Mayhem Brawler is a game where the player defeats enemies while moving towards the right side of the screen. The game has a "special move" bar that fills with fighting, as well as weapon and object interactions, as expected from the genre. Another feature is reminiscent of Gamebooks or "choose your own adventure books," with the player’s choices leading to one of three unique endings. Although it is a little known fact, the first time this method was used in Beat 'em up games was in Dungeons and Dragons Tower of Doom as an option to choose your path. Nevertheless, it did not affect the final stage or ending in Tower of Doom.
The game has three playable characters with unique movesets and variations: Trouble, a living weapon; Star, a telekinetic; and Dolphin, a powerhouse.
Plot
While answering a routine call on patrol, Dolphin, Star, and Trouble – the most popular officers of the super-powered law enforcement agency, Stronghold – find themselves in a sequence of events that will alter the fate of the entire city.
Reception
The current completion of the development process is around 80%. A demo of Mayhem Brawler took place at Xbox Summer Game Fest[2] with an early build demo. The game is expected to be released in the first half of 2021. The Steam Store page is on "Coming Soon" status after official announcements were made by the studio on their website and official gaming news portals.[3][4][5][6] Twitch TV Beat 'em up game streamer DinTheAbary streamed, tested and recorded a four-hour live playthrough for an early alpha version of the game.[7]
