McObject LLC
McObject LLC
McObject® LLC is a multi-national software company based near Seattle, Washington, USA, that provides database management system (DBMS) software.[1] The company’s eXtremeDB® DBMS product family is deployed on all platforms[2], from zero administration embedded systems to servers. McObject is said to have pioneered the in-memory database market for embedded systems with eXtremeDB in 2001.[2]
In 2006 McObject took over the development of Perst. It continues to offer free downloads and has added commercial license options.
History
McObject began when its founders identified a new need for a real-time embedded database in what used to be considered primarily hardware devices: telecom and networking equipment, industrial controllers, avionics and the like.
This led to the company’s founding in 2001 and the launch of the eXtremeDB In-Memory Database System (IMDS) product family. The company claims that eXtremeDB was the first embedded DBMS created specifically for real-time embedded systems.
eXtremeDB
eXtremeDB is a hybrid database system that allows for a combination of both database paradigms – in-memory and on-disk – in a single database instance. Specifying one set of data as transient (managed in memory), while choosing persistent storage for other record types, requires a simple database schema declaration.
eXtremeDB for HPC
eXtremeDB for HPC was developed for high performance computing systems. It comes with a library of functions for performing statistical analysis on time series data using a technique called pipelining. Pipelining refers to a series of data processing elements where the output of one element is the input of the next one.[3]
eXtremeDB IoT Software Development Kit
The IoT (Internet of Things) Software Development Kit has the capability to replicate data from the edge to the server, including through many tiers (edge/gateway/server). eXtremeDB Active Replication Fabric™ intelligently queues data during intended or unintended network outages for later synchronization.[4]
Perst
Perst is McObject’s open source, dual license, object-oriented embedded database system (ODBMS). It is available in one edition developed as an all-Java embedded database, and another implemented in C# (for Microsoft .NET Framework applications).
Markets
McObject database management products are used across a wide range of industries and market segments, and on all platforms from edge to cloud.
