Meadow Brook Theatre (MBT) is a professional theatre serving the greater SE Michigan community for over 50 years. First producing plays in 1966 as a cultural program of Oakland University located in the northern suburbs of Detroit, MBT has since separated from the university. It is operated now by the non-profit organization The Theatre Ensemble, Inc. which continues to rent the performance and support spaces from the university. MBT employs members of Actors' Equity Association using the League of Resident Theatres contract. It produces a subscription season from October through June of dramas, comedies and musicals as well as its annual presentation of "A Christmas Carol". It also presents a series of touring children's theatre shows as well as hosting events for other performing organizations.

Thom Foxlee is currently President of the Board of Directors of The Theatre Ensemble, inc. Artistic Directors have included John Fernald (1966-70), Terence Kilburn (1970-1994), Geoffrey Sherman (1995-99), Debra Wicks (1999-2002), David L. Regal (2003-07) and Travis W. Walter (2010-present). Cheryl L. Marshall serves as Managing Director.
