Mecalimb is a metal band from Fredrikstad in Østfold, Norway, that plays a form of melodic death metal with thrash and groove metal elements. The band consists of Ole Olsen (only original member left, guitar/backing vocals/songwriter), Tom Angel (guitar), Robert Arntsen (vocals), Marius Pettersen (drums), and Dag Kopperud (bass guitar/backing vocals).

The band started out in December 2005 with Torben Svendsen (guitar), Ole Olsen (guitar), Raymond Gammelsrud (vocals), Johnny Baardsen (bass), and Hans Jacob Solberg (drums). In March 2006, the band debuted live at the Emerganza festival in Oslo and went as far as a third-place finish in the finals at Betong. During the spring of 2006, the first demo was released with the songs Fighter and Broken Brain, which were picked as film music for the wintersport movie Kong Vinter III. After the summer of 2006, Johnny Baardsen left the band. Stein Larsen (Panama, Da Vincie, and the backup band for Ole Evenrude) took his place for 6 months, and Dag Kopperud became a main bass player after him (he earlier played with Oceans Of Time).

The recording of a new demo started in the fall of 2007, with the songs Unspoken Words, Sacrifice for Life, and Rise. Shortly after this, Hans Jacob Solberg left the band. Marius Pettersen (earlier with Burn, Offset Nature, and Rampager (with Sindre Lee, who has been Mecalimb's session guitarist for several live occasions)) took over the drums in November 2007. Several live concerts followed, and in the fall of 2008, the band started recording their first album, Mechanical Recipe at Toproom Studio. It was released on Mechanical Records in April 2009. A video for the track «Still Alive» was produced in February 2009.

Torben Svendsen and Raymond Gammelsrud left the band in January 2010 because of disagreements on the band's future/ambitions. Kenneth Liljegren from Asker was hired as the new vocalist in March 2010. In August 2010, Mecalimb gained a record deal with Rising Records, (London), and started recording their second album, Bound To Fall that fall at Lydmuren Studio, Greåker. The album came out in March 2011. Robin Larsen (Hideous Deformity, Dominant) from Fredrikstad was hired as the second guitarist early in 2011. The band played at the Hard'n'Heavy Festival in Gran Canaria, Spain in December 2011. In March 2012, Kenneth Liljegren left the band. His successor was Stephan Hay (Clone Industry). In 2014, Tom Angel replaced Robin Larsen as the second guitar player.

The band recorded a 3-track EP, called «Chaos EP», in the summer of 2014. In early 2015, Stephan Hay chose to leave the band due to personal reasons. A new vocalist was hired shortly after, the Swede Robert Arntsen (Waning) from Gothenburg. The band started recording their third album, XIII, in the summer of 2015 and released the record in December 2015 under Mechanical Records. Mecalimb also made their songs available on iTunes and several streaming applications. The band has played in several locations in Norway with artists like Tankard, Enslaved, Entrails, Witchhammer, Jorn, Circus Maximus, Susperia.

During the fall of 2016, Mecalimb joined the legendary Norwegian black metal band Ragnarok and Slovenian Cvinger on a European tour, playing in Hamburg, Westhausen, Apolda, Berlin, Flensburg (Germany), Tilburg (Netherlands), Antwerpen (Belgium), Paris (France), Milan (Italy), Ostrava, and Brno (Czech Rep.).
