This is a list of Medical schools in Wales and their entry requirements.

Bangor University: North Wales[edit]

Bangor University delivers the C21 North Wales Graduate entry medicine course which is 4 years and delivered in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine. The course places a greater emphasis on community medicine but is broadly based on the Cardiff medicine course.[1]

Entry requirements[edit]

These entry requirements (as of December 2022) are the same as the requirements for graduate entry to Cardiff's 5-year course. It accepts recognised feeder courses linked to the School of Medicine’s Graduate Entry Programme and students wishing to transfer after finishing first year.[2]

Graduate applicants[edit]

Graduates must have or be working towards a 2:1 in their degree and have BBB/ABC at A-level (or equivalent), including subject requirements and meet the minimum GCSE requirements (or equivalent qualifications)[3]

North Wales Medical School[edit]

Jo Whitehead, CEO of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has stated that a new Medical and Health Sciences School in North Wales could be achieved by 2025. Then Welsh Health Minister Vaughan Gething has stated that he wants a task and finish group to assess whether a North Wales medical School is “practical and achievable”. A task and finish group chaired by Professor Elizabeth Treasure, has been looking at the idea since autumn 2020.[4]

Cardiff University School of Medicine[edit]

The Cardiff University School of Medicine offers a 5-year full time degree titled MBBCh.[5]

Entry requirements[edit]

Entry requirements (as of April 2022) for study are as follows:

A levels[edit]

AAA which must include Biology and Chemistry. Prospective students must pass the science practical element of the A-level if this is part of the programme of study. The course does not accept A-level resits.

Graduate applicants[edit]

Swansea University Medical School[edit]

The Swansea University Medical School offers a 4-year full time course titled "graduate medicine" MBBCH aimed at post-graduates.[6]
