Meg Coffey is an American-born Australian media personality and speaker known for her opinion on trends in marketing and social media.
She is a regular media commentator appearing on Masters of Spin on Weekend Sunrise, Download this Show on Radio National and others.

Media & Technology Journalism[edit]
Coffey is regularly quoted for spotting new features on social media platforms.
She regularly appears on the ABC's technology radio program Download This Show which examines the latest developments in social media, consumer electronics, digital politics, hacktivism and online privacy. The program airs on Radio National, ABC Local Radio Digital and throughout Asia Pacific on Radio Australia.[1]
Coffey appears fortnightly on Channel 7's Weekend Sunrise television program Masters of Spin segment examining the latest marketing and advertising trends and stories.[2]
She also appears weekly on Triple M radio in Albany and Karratha. From 2014 until March 2022, she appeared on Saturday Nights with Tony McManus on 6PR discussing the latest social media and tech news.
From 2018 to 2020 Coffey was a regular on 9 News Perth’s The Pulse discussing the trending topics of the day.[3]
During the 2017 Western Australian State Election, Coffey appeared on ABC Evening News dissecting the social media efforts during the campaign. in her weekly segment, she was interviewed by James McHale.[4]
She is a regular contributor to media publications across Australia, offering opinions on the latest trends in digital marketing as well as new features spotted on platforms. Education & Training[edit]
Coffey delivers numerous workshops and training sessions on the role of social media in small business[14]. She has spoken at the world’s largest content marketing conference Content Marketing World (US)[15], as well as at Content Tech (US) and State of Social.
From 2015 until March 2020, she worked with Tourism Council Western Australia to develop a series of social media workshops which were then delivered to their members across Western Australia[16]
Social Media Perth (SMPerth)[edit]
Founded in 2013 as a way to bring the Perth digital marketing community together, SMPerth grew to deliver 10 networking events and over 25 workshops per year covering various topics across content marketing, advertising and platform specific information.[17]
In 2020, as a result of COVID-19, all workshops were moved online and in person events put on hold.
State of Social[edit]
In 2018, Coffey founded State of Social, a Australia's largest dedicated digital marketing conference[18], based at Optus Stadium in Perth, Western Australia. State of Social was a finalist for Best Event in the Australian Event Awards.

Coffey is the Managing Director of Coffey & Tea, a boutique digital marketing agency founded in 2013 and based in Perth Western Australia.[19]

Coffey was a finalist for the 2021 and 2023 WA Campaign Brief Ad Person of the Year.[20] Coffey was named one of Australia's Top 50 Small Business leaders in 2017.[21]
Education[edit]
Coffey grew up in Dallas, Texas and attended the Episcopal School of Dallas.[22]
In 1995, she attended school in Sion Switzerland while living in Sierre with a Swiss family as an exchange student under the YFU program. The courses were taught in French whilst her native tongue was English. In her foreign language class, Italian, Coffey needed to translate from Italian to French to English and back again before being able to communicate.[23]
Coffey spent two years attending the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.[24]
During the northern hemisphere summer of 2000, Coffey attended Regents College in London and spent weekends exploring the European cities on her doorstep. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising from Southern Methodist University.
Coffey, wishing to enter the recognised education space, received a Cert IV in Training and Assessment in 2014.[25]
Volunteer Work[edit]
Following the 1989 destruction of Charleston SC due to Hurricane Hugo, Coffey organised a two-week can and bottle recycling drive. She raised $1350.50 which was donated to the American Red Cross on behalf of the victims.[26]
Coffey is a board member of Australia's North West[27], the peak tourism body for the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia. They are responsible for the promotion of the North West as a premier tourism destination in both domestic and international markets with the objective of increasing visitor arrivals on behalf of its members.
Coffey is a Non-Executive Director of Auspire[28], an independent, not-for-profit organisation founded in 1977. They are part of the Australia Day Council National network and have a vision for socially and culturally inclusive Australia.
Personal Life[edit]
After first arriving for a 3 month holiday in Australia in 2003, Coffey currently resides in Perth, Western Australia with her yellow labradoodle.[29]
She has also lived in the Bay of Islands and Christchurch in New Zealand as well as on Magnetic Island in Queensland, Australia. Whilst living on Magnetic Island in 2008, Coffey appeared as herself on an episode of Mercurio's Menu filmed at Barefoot Art & Wine.
