Megan Elizabeth Davis (born 2 April 1989), known professionally as Meg Davis is a American/Dutch vocalist and singing teacher who specializes in Turkish folk music and is known for participating in the 2018 edition of O Ses Türkiye, making it to semi-finals.

Biography[edit]

Megan Elizabeth Davis was born on the 2nd of April 1989 in the state of West Virginia in the United States of America. According to Megan she developed a passion for singing on a young age by listening and memorizing songs she heard on the radio. Her goal was to become the next Shania Twain. At the age of 14 Megan moved to The Netherlands and she started singing for different band ranging in genre from Rock, Pop, Rock-a-Billy and Metal. Not long after she began practicing singing Turkish folk music after being introduced to Turking folk music by Kemal Dinç. She followed up by joining the Anatolian department of the Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam where she’s been studying Turkish Folk music since 2012 and performed her bachelor performance in in 2017 and her master thesis performance under the name Melez in August of 2019.

In 2014 Megan moved to Izmir for 7 months as part of the Erasmus Exchange Program. She studied at the Ege Universitesi where she learned from various Turkish musicians such as Cengiz Özkan, Serpil Kaya (TRT) and Makebule Kaya. In 2018 she successfully auditioned for O Ses Turkye drop to the floor when she performed the song Kimseye tmem şikayet during the blind auditions.

Megan has been teaching privately since 2011 and in 2017 she joined School of Music as a vocal teacher. Teaching individual lessons, group lessons and music workshops for kids.
