Mega Island is an outer island of Indonesia which is located in the Indian Ocean. Mega Island is administratively part of the province of Bengkulu. This island is located west of the city of Bengkulu with the coordinates of 4 ° 1 ′ 12 ″ S, 101 ° 1 ′ 49 ″ E with an area of 293.36 Ha. The island is uninhabited and serves only as a stopover for local fishermen.

Topography
Mega Island has a gentle contour with rocks in the form of corals on several parts of the coast, especially in the south of the island. After the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, the island of Mega suffered serious environmental damage which resulted in coral reefs stranded on the surface of the island. Coconut trees and other trees are still seen scattered around the coast. In general, the beaches of Mega Island have white and fine sand. In the western part, however, is filled with coarse sand with small rocks. The base of the beach on Mega Island is coral and mud.
Population
Mega Island is an uninhabited island. However, seasonal residents who come from Sikakap, South Pagai Island, Mentawai Islands annually collect coconuts with copra as a derivative product.
Vegetation
Vegetation in Mega Island is dominated by coconut trees. Coconut is easily found in every part of the island, especially on the coast. In addition, shrubs and palms are also found on the coast and in the central part of the island. Mangrove trees are only spotted in the southern part of the island.
Island Facilities
A navigation aid in the form of a lighthouse exists on Mega Island. Its existence greatly facilitates the navigation of ships crossing this island. The lighthouse is guarded by two officers.
State of the Island
Mega Island is quite isolated, with very difficult access. Being in the waters of the Indian Ocean, threats have come quite a lot. Without the Outermost Island Marine Officers on guard, fish theft can easily be carried out by foreign fishermen. Additionally, the waters around Mega Island often experience high waves, this condition causes some parts of the coast to experience abrasion. Mangrove trees propagation and wave breakers must be constructed immediately.
