Megan Bailey

Dr. Megan Bailey is an Associate Professor in the Marine Affairs Program at Dalhousie University and Canada Research Chair in the Integrated Ocean and Coastal Governance (Tier II).

Bailey's research will work to define and study "seafood sovereignty" as it pertains to the sustainable seafood movement and to Inuit Nunangat, the Inuit homeland in Canada, including land, water and ice. She is focussing on how market and state approaches can be combine to improve cooperation around global fisheries governance.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Meghan grew up in London, Ontario, and pursued her bachelors degree in Zoology at the Western University, and completed her Master's and PhD at the University of British Columbia Fisheries Centre (now known as the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries).

In 2012, after defending her PhD, she joined the Environmental Policy Group at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, where she helped lead the BESTTuna and IFITT programs..
