Early Life
In a world where silence often overpowers truth, Mehak Ali chooses to speak. From the beautiful yet misunderstood valley of Kashmir, she is not just a journalist; she is a voice – a voice that rises not for attention, but for action, awareness and hope.
The journey of Mehak Ali in journalism didn’t begin with grand studios or breaking news headlines. It began on the ground, amidst the people, capturing stories that matter. Early on, she realized that her region, though rich in beauty and culture, is often painted in a singular narrative – one that ignores the everyday lives, struggles, and aspirations of its people. She wanted to change that. She still does.
As a student of Political Science BA Hons, Mehak Ali has always been inclined towards understanding the deeper dynamics of society. But books alone weren’t enough. She needed to experience things firsthand to document them, and to amplify unheard voices. That’s what led her to pick up the camera, grab a mic, and walk through the lanes of her homeland not as a reporter but as a representative of the people.
Mehak Ali has worked with Kashmir Crown, a leading media network in Jammu & Kashmir, contributing as a reporter and storyteller. Whether it was the hustle and charm of Eid shopping or the heartfelt voice of a father struggling to provide, she reported stories that needed to be told with emotion, honesty, and dignity. She has also worked as a graphic designer for several organizations, including Petals NGO, using visual storytelling to highlight real issues that often go unnoticed.
Her involvement doesn’t stop at media. Mehak Ali has volunteered with the Public Social and Cultural Society in Baramulla, a grassroots organization working tirelessly to curb the menace of drug addiction. Through this work, she met families torn by addiction, youth trying to rebuild their lives, and unsung heroes working silently to rescue the next generation. It moved her and reminded her why she chose this path – not for recognition but for responsibility.
Mehak Ali doesn’t believe in waiting for opportunities. She believes in creating them. From managing digital reports to anchoring interviews, from editing videos to writing scripts, she wears many hats because storytelling is not just a job for her, it’s an identity. It is how she serves Kashmir. She does not chase the limelight; she seeks impact.
Mehak Ali is not afraid of hard work and is not bound by comfort zones. Wherever Kashmir needs her, she will be there – as a journalist, as a volunteer, as a daughter of the soil. Her voice is for the people who have been silenced, for the stories that have been ignored, and for the dreams that are yet to be fulfilled.
Today, Mehak Ali stands not just as a student or a journalist—she stands as a symbol of persistence and hope. Just one voice among millions, yet she believes that even one voice, if honest and fearless, can spark change.
