Mei Ling Yap is an Australian radiation oncologist and clinical researcher with an interest in lung and breast cancer.[2]
She is an Associate Professor and Head of the Cancer Program at The George Institute for Global Health, and a conjoint Associate Professor at UNSW Sydney.[3]
Mei is also a Senior Staff Specialist radiation oncologist in the South-Western Sydney Local Health District, working across Liverpool and Macarthur Cancer Therapy Centres.
Qualifications
Mei holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and a Bachelor of Science (BSc). She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR), and completed a clinical research fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto in 2013.[4] She was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from UNSW Sydney in 2021 for research investigating disparities in access to radiotherapy services in New South Wales, Australia.[5]
Career
Mei is Head of the Cancer Program at The George Institute for Global Health. She is also lead of the Collaboration for Cancer Outcomes, Research and Evaluation (CCORE) at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research.[6]
As a radiation oncologist based in South-Western Sydney, she treats patients with lung and breast cancer while conducting research focused on improving equity in cancer care and cancer control in diverse and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions.[6]
