Meimeiwawa Multimedia (Chinese: 妹妹娃娃多媒體; pinyin: mèimèi wáwá dūo méi tĭ; "Meiwa Media" for short) is an independent multimedia company founded by sisters Esther Veronin and Lara Veronin.[1]. The company sports an all-female led team that engages in issues ranging from music and entertainment to LGBTQ, body positivity, and feminism.[2][3][4]
Basic Info
Located in Taipei, Taiwan, the firm was established in 2013 and also doubles as a record label and talent agency for Lara's independent releases and performances since breaking away from JVR Music in 2013[5]. Under the label of Meimeiwawa, Lara has released 1 full album, 1 EP (Extended Play), and several singles (music). Drawing from their backgrounds of mixed race heritage (Taiwanese East Asian and American-Russian Caucasian), the Veronin sisters focus on putting on multicultural and bilingual content[6] that is a mixture of reality and imagination. Their Youtube channel sports a number of different projects ranging from music videos to travel vlogs to independent short films, and even a fake reality series based on the Meiwa office[7]
The name "Meimeiwawa (妹妹娃娃)" derives from childhood nicknames given to older sister Esther, 妹妹 (pinyin: mèimèi, which means little sister), and younger sister Lara, 娃娃 (pinyin: wáwá, which means doll)[8].
