From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Melani Lowman-Walton (born July, 1974) is the wife of Samuel Robson "Rob" Walton (born October 28, 1944), an heir to the fortune of Walmart, and former chair of the corporation. Lowman-Walton previously worked as an athletic trainer and basketball coach,[1]

Melani Walton was born in Williston, North Dakota and grew up on a ranch in Sidney, Montana. She graduated in 1998[2] from Dickinson State University in Dickinson, ND with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. Since her marriage to Walton, she has collaborated on the philanthropic priorities of the Walton Family Foundation, which she manages.[1] The foundation has several key priorities, including improving K-12 education, conservation efforts, and investment in the family's home region of Northwest Arkansas. [3] Their foundation has supported, for example, the Rob and Melani Walton Nature Preserve which is adjacent to the Beaver Lake Watershed and provides drinking water to half a million residents of Arkansas.[4]

Together, the Waltons have a net worth estimated to be $43 billion.[5] Their foundation recently joined the Earthshot Prize initiative spearheaded by Prince William and Kate Middleton.[6] The Prize's goal is to fund solutions to the world's greatest environmental problems.[7] Lowman-Walton is co-founder with her husband of Arizona State university's "Sustainability Solutions Service," a collaborative, ASU-based partnership that supports global sustainability projects, offers continuing education for teachers and science educators, and educates the public about global environmental problems and solutions.[8] The Sustainability Service funds and coordinates projects like an Urban Farm at St. Vincent de Paul building a partnership between the nonprofit organization, local business, and ASU students to develop a working farm that harvests thousands of pounds of food to those experiencing food inesecurity. [9]

Lowman-Walton serves as a trustee of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Foundation,[10] to which the Walton Foundation has donated 50 million dollars, and which is slated to open near Medora, ND in 2025.
