Melanie Julie Dinca (born July 23, 1999) is an aspiring medical student majoring in Developmental Psychology at the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities. She is known to her friends to have a kind heart and always looks for the brighter side of things. Melanie radiates kindness and is always willing to go the extra mile to comfort her friends when needed. She has an exquisite taste in music and has been passionate about sharing her music with others. Among her favorite artists are Tame Impala, Frank Ocean, Glass Animals, and Kasbo.
Early life
Melanie was born in Burnsville, Minnesota on July 23rd, 1999. Daughter of Liliana and Grigore Dinca, newcomers to America from Romania, Melanie was born in Fairview Regions hospital and has been kicking ass ever since. Melanie went to Lakeview Elementary School in Lakeville and later McGuire Middle school, where she found many of her long-time friends. She exhibited an interest in gymnastics, leading her to practice for 5 years and earning 2nd place in a gymnastics meet in 2012. Melanie also played volleyball and participated in ice skating during that time. Melanie's biological parents Liliana and Grigore Dinca (not Rey and Anna) have adapted well in the US, with Liliana working at Skywater as a photo junior principal and Grigore working as a principal technician in the medical field. Melanie later went to Lakeville South High School where she met an amazing guy named Rey, he was a jack-of-all-trades type of a guy and was brilliant with everyone and everything he encountered, but that is for another story. Melanie was involved in many health-related clubs such as HOSA, where she developed her passion for the medical field, later being certified as a nursing assistant.
Academic and Occupational Life
Fueled with her passion in medicine and psychology, Melanie was admitted to the University of Minnesota Rochester, where she began working hard to jumpstart her academic career. Soon enough though, Melanie realized that as a small-town girl she was living in a lonely world, so she transferred to the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities after 2 semesters to live in the big town with Rey, the jack-of-all-trades guy mentioned earlier. As a CNA at Augustana Senior Living facility (mostly night shifts because heck, sleep), BLS certified, and knowledgeable in COVID-19 contact tracing, there is no doubt that Melanie is really smart and has a bright future ahead of her. She has worked many jobs, with her current one being a Clinical Program Assistant at Fraser, soaking in knowledge like a sponge(bob), and working with children diagnosed with Autism. Melanie has also proved her leadership skills through organizations such as Students Today Leaders Forever, acting as one of the officers, and also being an officer for Chi Alpha, handling media outreach. Did I mention that Melanie LOVES cupcakes? She has been working at an award-winning cupcake shop Sweet Treasures, where Melanie has been working on-and-off since 2017 helping out with big and small orders.
Music
Melanie has one of the most diverse music tastes, being one of the few people constantly searching for new up-and-coming artists and willing to give different genres a try. Among many favorite bands, 100 Gecs is by far her most invested band, with their 9 times platinum hit "Money Machine" being the song Melanie plays on repeat all day long (All...God...Damn...Day...LONG).
Melanie's Future
No-one knows what Melanie's future holds in store for her, but one thing is for certain: she is a bright mind and she is surrounded by people who love and cherish her deeply :) Happy Birthday Mel, love you lots <3 ;)
