Park School of Communications. She ended up graduating with a B.A. in broadcast journalism and speech communication.

She is known for writing about gender issues, race, youth advocacy, and how emerging technology can be harnessed to instigate positive social change. Her online work encompasses features for Fast Company, VICE, CBS News, Mic.com, Huffington Post Impact, Mashable, Village Voice Media, Discovery News, BlogHer, MTV Act, Cisco's Technology News Network[7] and the Smart+Connected Communities Institute.
On March 11, 2015, Rowley and Peter Gabriel announced[8] a collaborative partnership between The Toolbox and the World Economic Forum.
