pronounced (meh-lvin doo) Melvin Doo is a one-off admired character who appeared in the Scooby Doo Movie (2002). He is best known for his last name that coincidentally is the same as the star of the film Scooby Doo. He was played by actor Martin Broome. His plain delivery of lines as well as him being a one-off joke adds to his recent boost in popularity.

Early Life

Melvin's early life is unknown, but his date of birth is estimated to be between 1984 and 1985 due to him being a college student along with the other college students in 2002. He is either Australian or American, but not enough was spoken to determine his nationality. It is unknown whether he has any relation to Scooby Doo himself, but it can be assumed not, due to his and Scooby’s lack of family interaction. Melvin eventually went on a trip to Spooky Island where the events of the movie take place.

Personality

Melvin Doo has a monotone voice and is visibly sad when told that the phone call is for a dog, Scooby Doo. Character dynamic between Scooby and Melvin Melvin and Scooby first interact in an accident where a demon is planning to call Scooby into getting trapped, and is called over by the barman who wants to hand the phone over, but conflict arises when more than one Mr. Doo is present...

This is in direct response to: Bartender : I got a call here for a Mister Doo? I got a call for Mister Doo. Melvin : [Stands up] Uh, Melvin Doo? Bartender : Nah. Scooby.

Though it is small, a sizeable chunk of character dynamics and interactions appears towards the end of the film, when in response to Scrappy Doo's demand of "all I need to complete my transformation is Scooby Doo" and in response, Scooby replies with "Me don't you mean Melvin Doo?" Scooby then points to the recently taken over Melvin Doo.

Social Media

As recently as the last couple of years, a couple of petitions to bring back Melvin Doo have appeared on the internet. One example is from change.org that is petitioning for "We want a Melvin Doo to cameo in Suicide Squad 2." The second is now closed but was also on change.org "Bring back Melvin Doo." As well as this, Melvin has become a meme, which has been popularised on Reddit. An example is "when you find a new meme format but it's Melvin Doo."
