Mentors International (formerly Enterprise Mentors International) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Kaysville, Utah, that provides one-on-one mentoring and business training for necessity entrepreneurs in low-income communities across Latin America, Africa, and Asia.[1][2] Charity evaluators have recognized the organization with a 4-of-4 star rating from Charity Navigator.[3]

History

Mentors International started back in 1990, when St. Louis businessman Menlo F. Smith founded Enterprise Mentors International to promote self-reliance through microenterprise support. The organization later adopted the name Mentors International.[1]

Impact

According to Mentors International’s 2024 impact report, program participants on average reported a 29% increase in income, a 54% increase in personal savings, and a 36% decrease in personal debts; the organization logged 113,000 mentoring visits that year, and 73% of program participants were women.[4]

Finances and governance

Mentors International is a U.S. tax-exempt nonprofit (EIN 43-1536498).[1] For tax year 2024, public filings reported approximately US$4.39 million in revenue, US$5.20 million in expenses, and US$6.74 million in total assets.[5] Charity Navigator rates the organization 4/4 stars for Accountability & Finance and other evaluated beacons.[3]
