Merkle Group Inc. (also called "Merkle") is a global performance marketing agency based in Columbia, Maryland and is part of Dentsu Aegis Network.[1][2][3]

Merkle Computer Systems, Inc. was founded in 1971 as part of Merkle Press.[4] Chairman and CEO, David Williams, purchased Merkle for $5.2 million in 1988, at the age of 25, and was the company's 24th employee.[5] Merkle had $3.0 million in revenue in 1988 and $846 million in 2018. The company evolved from a database marketing firm into a full-service performance marketing agency.[5] In 2017, Advertising Age ranked Merkle as the 9th-largest CRM/Direct Marketing Agency in the world, and the 5th-largest US search marketing agency.[6]
In 2022, Merkle acquired Ireland and UK-based Salesforce consultancy Pexlify.[7]

History[edit]
Axis41 was founded in 2001 with 4 partners and 3 employees. Originally located in the historic Salt Lake Hardware Building, Axis41 was first awarded projects from Great Nordic in Copenhagen. In November 2016, Merkle acquired Axis41.[2]
