Mervom

Mervom is a Hungarian symphonic power metal band formed originally in 2019 by Bence Báthori-Kovács (Naga) under the name of Avoidance. They released their first single “Shadows of GraveYard” in the summer of 2020, shortly after their first album "God of Damnation" (2020). They had 2 smaller concerts just before the pandemic but without the former keyboardist, referring to internal reasons. Not long after that, they decided to let him on his own, citing some disagreements.

History

After a year, the members felt like they no longer connect with their starting genre (melodic death metal) and name, therefore Martin Rendes and Bence (Bozont) Bajnáczki left the band too. Naga started to work on a new concept with the main change being a female vocalist (Hanga Tóth - Véda) who came up with the name Mervom (merging the word dusk with the word dragon). During the same year, the band started working on their EP which later turned into an album due to the ongoing pandemic and member changes. One of the new members was Péter Jurinka on rhythm guitar and the other was Zsolt Kormányos on bass. During that time period, Zsombor Zathureczky played on keyboards temporarily. Meanwhile, Jurinka and Naga found the new keyboard player, Ádám Láng. After a short while Jurinka and Kormányos left the band because of some musical disagreements. Then Naga found the final rhythm guitarist, Ádám Pető, and came up with the idea of using a sampler for the bass tracks. They held their official debut concert at Dürer Kert back in 2022 giving a hint of the upcoming songs and laying the foundation for their forthcoming work. Not long after the show, former drummer Levente Szabó-Vadász and former singer Véda announced they were leaving the band to pursue other career paths. The idea to have Diana Bús (Dana), who was previously in a separate project with Naga, take the place of the lead singer and lyricist came concurrently. The band started recording their album Nuclear Creation during the fall of 2022, writing the last 3 songs (Eternal Bloodflow, Born of Immortior, and Revenge of Nature) with Dana. They had two concerts at the start of 2023 while having the drummer post open. Just after holding their gig in March in Analog Music Hall came István Balog to take the drumsticks and complete the band. Finishing Nuclear Creation in a rush during the spring of 2023 they released the album on 14th June 2023 and held their first concert with the final members a week later.
