Meshcore
MeshCore is software for off-grid text messaging and multi-hop (mesh) packet routing over LoRa and other packet radio hardware.[1][2] Independent technical publications have described MeshCore as an approach to LoRa-based mesh messaging and an alternative to other projects in this space.[1][2][3]
Overview
MeshCore enables devices to relay messages through intermediate nodes when direct radio range is insufficient, forming a multi-hop network.[1] The project is distributed as firmware and related tooling for supported devices, and is also described by its developers as a portable C++ library intended for embedded packet-radio projects.[4]
Architecture
The project's public documentation describes distinct node roles and multi-hop forwarding with a configurable hop limit to reduce excessive traffic.[4]
Hardware and clients
Independent coverage and project materials describe MeshCore as working with LoRa-capable development boards and devices; examples mentioned include Heltec, SenseCAP T1000-E, and LilyGO hardware.[1][2] CNX Software notes that a web-based flashing tool provides a list of supported devices and is used to install firmware on compatible hardware.[1]
Coverage
MeshCore has been discussed in technical media as an off-grid messaging system using LoRa radios and as a lightweight alternative to other mesh messaging projects.[1][2][3]
