Metamorphosis Art
The term “Visual Metamorphosis” in art indicates shape-shifting in a piece of artwork. It allows an artist to transform an object with meaning to a similar object with a different meaning. This, then allows one meaning to be hidden behind others. It was first proposed in the 1930’s as a similar form to a french type of painting invented by Henri Focillon.
