Metrum Research Group is a biomedical modeling and simulation company in Tariffville, Conn, that works in the field of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics modeling.

The company was founded in 2004 by Dr. Marc Gastonguay. In 2022, Gastonguay was succeeded as Chief Executive Officer by Michelle Johnson.[1]

MetrumRG was cited as the first organization in the field of biosimulation to harness the computing power of on-demand elastic cloud computing and move its entire IT infrastructure to the cloud in 2012.[2]

COVID-19

MetrumRG researcher Matthew Riggs, Ph.D, was part of the team that developed the modeling and simulation framework for the SARS-CoV-2 monoclonal antibodies to advance Eli Lilly & Company's Bamlanivimab into human clinical trials.[3] Eli Lilly was ultimately granted Emergency Use Authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for Bamlanivimab in November 2020.[4]

Work on the modeling and simulation framework was recognized by the International Society for Pharmacometrics with the Outstanding Research Manuscript Award for 2022.[5]

Diabetes

MetrumRG scientists developed and implemented a model-based strategy to generate evidence of comparative effectiveness between two anti-diabetic medications without the need for a head-to-head clinical trial. The work illustrated a valid approach for indirect drug comparisons, supporting drug development and market access decisions.[6] This work was a collaboration with clinicians and drug development scientists from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul and Boehringer Ingelheim.
