Michael K. (Mike) Wirth (born 1960) is an American businessman, who currently serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Chevron Corporation, succeeding former CEO John S. Watson. Wirth assumed the roles of these positions on February 1, 2018 [1]

Biography[edit]

Wirth is a native of Golden, Colorado, graduating from Golden High School in 1978 and earning a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1982.[citation needed] In the same year, he joined Chevron as a design engineer. Before becoming CEO, at Chevron Wirth served as an Executive Vice President of Downstream & Chemicals, an Executive Vice President of Global Refining Marketing Lubricants Supply & Trading, and President of Global Supply and Trading of Chevron Corp. among other positions.[2]
