Michael Danzi is an American high school distance runner who runs for Smithtown West High

School. He is most notable for winning the 1000 meter run at the 2020 New York NYSPHSAA Indoor State Championships.[1]

Other notable accomplishments include winning the overall Suffolk Division cross country championship in 2019[2] and winning the mile at the 2020 Stanner Games. [3]

Danzi announced he would be committing to Columbia University.[4]

When Danzi began track as a freshman, he was unable to place even in the top 100 in the state. Despite this, by his senior year he finished as the fastest 1000 meter runner in the state. His rise was considered by some to be extremely unusual. "He already had several school records...so that meteoric rise, that's unusual for us," claimed Smithtown Track and Cross Country Coach Peter Schieck. [4]
