Michael Dello-Iacovo is an Australian scientist.[1] and philanthropist[2]. In 2016 he made a pledge to donate everything he earns over $45,000 AUD each year to effective charities[3]. He will be running in the New South Wales 2019 state election for the Animal Justice Party in the electorate of Heffron[4]. Michael was the CEO of non-profit Effective Altruism Australia from 2016-2017[5], and is an advocate of the effective altruism movement[6].

Michael is undertaking a PhD in space science at UNSW[7], and has written about the use of seismic equipment to measure soil properties on other planetary bodies[8] and the risk of asteroid impacts[9]. In his honours degree at the University of Adelaide, he wrote about heat flow and geothermal energy in South Australia[10]

Michael runs the blog and podcast 'Morality is Hard', where he "seeks to shed light on some of the most complex ethical issues today".[11]
