Michael Manheim Tony Award nominated.[1], Golden Globe[2] and Emmy Award[3] winner Michael Manheim has produced fifteen theatrical and television movies[4] and a Broadway musical[5]. As principal of Jaman Properties, a boutique residential real estate development company[6], Manheim has designed and built over 20 high-profile residences in Los Angeles and New York[7].

Early Life and Education[edit]
Michael Manheim grew up in California and Arizona, the trumpet playing son of a college professor. He was educated at The Verde Valley School and [[Harvard University] where he graduated with honors in Government, worked for Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and played first trumpet with The Hasty Pudding Theatricals Show and The Harvard University Band--including performing at Carnegie Hall.
A week after Mr. Manheim received his acceptance letter to Oxford for graduate school, his draft notice arrived. He was given the choice of serving 2 years in Viet Nam or 6 years in the Rhode Island Army National Guard Band. When Michael tells people, “Music saved my life” it’s not an exaggeration.
Professional life[edit]
In 1972, Michael Manheim began his show business career as a production executive for David L. Wolper, supervising over 100 productions ranging from dramas: the “Appointment with Destiny on IMDb Search this movie on ” and Stanley Kramer’s “Judgment” specials, to hit comedies: “Welcome Back Kotter”[8] and “Chico And The Man”[9].
From 1982 to 1986, Mr. Manheim served as Vice President of Creative Affairs at Norman Lear and Jerry Perenchio’s Embassy Pictures where he oversaw theatrical film development and production for a slate of motion pictures.
In 1986, Manheim launched The Manheim Company[10] through a deal with NBC[11], producing eight movies for television including: Emmy Award winner, “Roe vs. Wade (film)” starring Holly Hunter and Kathy Bates; Emmy Award Nominee, “Last Flight Out on IMDb Search this movie on ”, starring James Earl Jones and Oscar winner Dr. Haing S. Ngor; Emmy winning Christmas perennial, “I'll Be Home for Christmas (1988 film)” starring Hal Holbrook, [[Courtney Cox] and Eva Marie Saint and “Winnie on IMDb Search this movie on ” co-produced with Bette Midler.
The Manheim Company’s independent productions have included: Golden Globe Award winner, “Dirty Pictures (film)” starring James Woods; Paramount’s “Leap of Faith (film)”, starring Steve Martin and Liam Neeson, Scott Frank's “Plain Clothes (film)” also for Paramount; “Zooman on IMDb Search this movie on ”, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Fuller; ABC's “Trial by Fire on IMDb Search this movie on ” and “Jitters on IMDb Search this movie on ” for Lifetime[12].
Mr. Manheim has served on the Board of Governors of The Producers Guild of America. Partnered with Paula Wagner, he produced “The 2012 Producers Guild Awards” featuring George Clooney, Steven Spielberg, Stan Lee and Alicia Keys, among others.[13].
Theatre[edit]
Mr. Manheim was a lead producer of the Leap of Faith (musical)[14] adaptation of his film, “Leap of Faith (film)” for the stage with productions at The Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles and The St. James Theatre on Broadway. The show’s score was written by eight-time Oscar winner, Alan Menken with book by Warren Leight and Janus Cercone, based on Ms. Cercone’s original screenplay. The show was nominated for multiple awards including the Tony Award for “Best Original Musical” and five Drama Desk Award's.

Jaman Properties[edit]
In 2003, along with his wife and creative partner, Janus Cercone, Manheim established Jaman Properties, a real estate development company specializing in designing and building one of a kind luxury residences. Frequently selling to marquee names, such as Conan O’Brien, Matt Groening, Fran Drescher and, most recently, Wall Street scion, Michael Schwab,[21] Jaman’s distinctive homes have been widely featured in the media, including numerous television shows, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Sun-Times, The London Daily Mail, Architectural Digest, Forbes, Fortune and Variety among others[22]. For two years running, the Los Angeles Business Journal named Jaman Properties among its “100 Fastest growing Private Companies"[23]
Personal Life[edit]
In his free time, Mr. Manheim has served as an unpaid apprentice in two of LA’s top Italian restaurants. He lives in Malibu with his wife, the writer/designer Janus Cercone. He still occasionally picks up his trumpet.
