Michael Postar's Affordable Storage is a privately held self-storage company with nine locations.[1]Headquartered in Lubbock, Texas the company was founded by Michael Postar in 1999. The company also operates Shop Warehouses, RV, and Boat storage facilities within the community.

[2]As a young entrepreneur, Michael Postar began mowing lawns and servicing the community with holiday lighting supplies. As the business started to expand, equipment space became limited. At that time, the self-storage market in Lubbock, Texas was relatively unknown, which eventually led to his first warehouse building investment at age 22.

As of June 2019, Michael Postar's Affordable Storage operates 9 self-storage locations and 8 warehouses facilities within Lubbock, Texas. Michael Postar is also the owner of A-Plus Super Storage in Lubbock, Texas with 5 different locations ranging from self-storage, RV/Boat Storage and Shops.

Operations[edit]

  • Divisions

Self-Storage, this is the companies largest division with over nine locations within the West Texas community. Each facility services a variety of sizes varying from 25 to 400 square feet with a combination of Drive-Up, Dust Controlled, and Climate Controlled self-storage units. They also carry general storage and moving supplies that includes; locks, moving boxes, furniture covers, etc.

Shop/Warehouse, branded as Affordable Storage Shops, these store front and shop/warehouse rentals vary from 625 to 1800 square feet. All of facilities feature; 14 ft. overhead doors, 110v & 220v amp plugs, walk-in door, and concrete driveways. The companies larger warehouses have additional features such as: private restrooms, offices and glass front doors.

RV/Boat, their newest concept of storage that provides a combination of Self-Storage, Shop/Warehouse Storage’’, and RV & Boat Storage’’ within one location. These RV & Boat storage facilities are made up of canopy and enclosed units ranging from 25 to 50 feet. Aside from protecting against the west texas weather, they offer computerized gate access, surveillance cameras, concrete path, air & dump stations, as well as a staging area.

  • Community

Aside from just providing self-storage for the Lubbock community. Michael Postar's Affordable Storage is very involved with local charities like Make-A-Wish, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), and Communities in Schools. Their presence in the community is mostly known by their smiley face logo - [3]which can be found at everything from mud volleyball tournaments, BBQ cook-offs, fun runs and other charity events.

Make-A-Wish is a nonprofit organization that works together with the community to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Michael Postar, joined the Make-A-Wish board 14 years ago to help make these wishes come true. Michael Postar’s Affordable Storage is also the proud sponsors of [4]KAMC’s Wish Wednesdays. Each week KAMC features wishes from the South Plains. We are excited to partner with Make a Wish to make wishes come true.

[5]Court Appointed Special Advocates, also known as CASA,[6]Communities in Schools supports students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Year round, the company donates storage units, holds drop-off drives at each of their locations, and their staff attends the gala. Affordable Storage has supported Communities in Schools for many years. In 2016, Michael Postar, joined the board to help students achieve their dreams.

Once a year, [7]KCBD News Channel 11 holds The Best of the West Awards ballet to recognize businesses that offer the best service in their category. Companies must be nominated as a top business to proceed into the final voting stage. Each of the winners are then published in a special print and online section. Through the years, Michael Postar’s Affordable Storage has claimed the Best of the West Award under the ‘’Best Self-Storage’’ category for 2012-2017, and 2019. Under the same concept, the [8]Lubbock Avalanche-Journal in the last few years created The Best of Lubbock Award specific to the community. The company won in 2018.
