Michael Rigas is chief of staff at the Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services. In June 2017, the White House announced that it would nominate Rigas to serve as deputy director of the Office of Personnel Management.

Education[edit]

Rigas holds an M.A. in public administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and a B.A. and M.A. in economics from Boston University.[1]

Career[edit]

At the beginning of his career, Rigas spent a decade in the private sector, including roles with Mellon Financial and Brown Brothers Harriman & Co.[1]

During the George W. Bush administration, Rigas was associate administrator in the General Services Administration (GSA). He was responsible for increasing federal government contracting with woman-owned, veteran-owned, and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. At GSA, he managed to improve the administration's scorecard from "red" to "green".[1]

Rigas worked for the Massachusetts Republican Party[2] and at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. to advance free-market and limited government public policy solutions. Rigas then became the Chief of Staff at the Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services.[1]

In June 2017, the White House announced that it would nominate Rigas to serve as deputy director of the Office of Personnel Management.[2]
