Michael Sall (born February 7, 1945) nicknamed "Jobo".[1][not in citation given][2] is an American gambler, businessman, and author. He is known for his abilities in the tabletop game gin rummy as well as for his criminal indictment[3] for activities related to the Taiwanchik-Trincher criminal organization, led by fugitive Alimzhan Tokhtakhunov, which served as the basis for the 2017 film “Molly’s Game” directed by Aaron Sorkin. Sall was convicted of felony racketeering - aiding in transit of a crime on April 18, 2013.[4]
Sall is currently principal of JGAR Financial, LLC[5][6], a Florida limited liability company founded in 2015[7] based out of Wayne, PA[8] that focuses on consumer and commercial debt collection.
Gambling History
Sall rose to prominence in Philadelphia in the 1970s playing gin rummy for money at local private clubs[9]. He later expanded to play in New York City, beginning at the Coterie club on Madison Avenue operated by Louise Goldsmith[9][10]
Conviction
Sall pleaded guilty to criminal felony charges in April 2013. As part of his arrangement, he forfeited $1,300,000.00 and his personal interests in Villanova Properties, LLC. Further, Sall was placed on two years’ probation.[11]
Authorship
Sall authored a 1998 book titled "Gin Rummy: A Predator's Guide".[12]
