Michael Webber is an American motion picture producer/director who has produced numerous films distributed by 20th Century Fox and Lionsgate. He has also produced independent films starring Golden Globe Winner Rosamund Pike and Academy Award Winner Jennifer Lawrence, and Academy Award Winner Mira Sorvino. Webber is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose work has received the praise by top critics. Webber’s documentary films have won 5 Best Documentary Awards, an Independent Spirit Award, a Director’s Choice Award from Michael Moore, and a Social Justice Award. Where his early work included a number of box office hits and noted comedies this current work has shifted to issue work and activism.

His work was the subject of an ABC 20/20 special by Emmy Award-winning journalist Jay Schadler, as well as television and radio talk shows, including: The Today Show, ABC World News Tonight, NBC Nightly News, Nightline, Howard Stern Show, and the Joe Rogan Experience. Webber has appeared on film panels and has been a featured guest on television and radio talk shows, also appearing on The Today Show, ABC World News Tonight, NBC Nightly News, and Nightline.

Webber is known for his contribution to animal welfare causes. He is the winner of the coveted Genesis Award from the Humane Society of the United States He has participated in exotic animal rescues, and was the keynote speaker for the Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance. His recent works intersect with the Big Cat Safety Act[1] and the efforts to protect exotic breeds domestically in the United States.

Joe Exotic publicly accused Tim Harrison and Michael Webber of murdering Terry Thompson of the infamous Zanesville Massacre claiming that they were “the only people who could have pulled it off” and that it was done as a publicity stunt for his film The Elephant in the Living Room No investigation or charges have ever been brought against ether men, as Terry Thompson’s death was ruled a suicide.
