Michal Prywata is a Canadian business executive. He is a co-founder of Bionik Laboratories,[1] Phantom Space Corporation,[2] and Vertus.
Early life and education
Prywata was born in Canada to Polish immigrant parents.[3] He studied biomedical engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University, earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree between 2008 and 2011.[4] He subsequently participated in a privately funded laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2012.[5]
Career
Bionik Laboratories
On January 8, 2010,[6] while an undergraduate student at TMU, Prywata and Thiago Caires co-created the Artificial Muscle-Operated Arm,[7][8] a prosthetic limb controlled by the wearer's brain signals.[9] The company developed the ARKE lower-body exoskeleton. In August 2017, Bionik announced the integration of Amazon Echo and Alexa.[10][11]
Phantom Space Corporation
In 2020, Prywata co-founded Phantom Space Corporation, an Arizona-based space transportation company, alongside Jim Cantrell and Michael D'Angelo.[12] He served as CDO.
Phantom Space raised $5 million in seed funding led by New York-based Chenel Capital.[13] By 2021, the company reported over $100 million in pre-sold satellite launch and satellite manufacturing contracts.[14] The company has raised a total of approximately $37 million in funding.[15]
Vertus
Prywata co-founded Vertus in 2023,[16] a financial technology and artificial intelligence company based in London and the Isle of Man, alongside Julius Franck and Alexander Foster.[17]
