Michal Sela
Michal Sela was an Israeli social worker who worked with at risk youth In Jerusalem. [1]
Murder[edit]
Sela was stabbed to death on October 3, 2019[2] at the age of 32. In 2021, her husband Eliran Malul was convicted in her death. She was survived by a daughter who was eight months old at the time of Sela’s death. She was stabbed eleven times in her upper body at her home in Motza.[1]
In December 2021, Malul was sentenced to life in prison.[3]
Biography[edit]
Sela was born in Moshav Beit Zeit, the fourth of six children born to Daniela amd Raphael Sela. She earned her Master of Social Work degree a few days before her death.[2]
Career[edit]
The Times of Israel said she worked with at risk youth. Another source says she worked with a variety of populations including Holocaust survivors, the “mentally challenged” and special needs sexual assault survivors.[2]
Legacy[edit]
Lili Ben Ami, her sister, founded the NGO Michal Sela Forum to combat domestic violence and prevent deaths like Sela’s.[2][3]
