Michelle Makori is an internationally acclaimed television journalist, news anchor, reporter and producer. Currently she is a leading anchor and Editor-in-Chief for i24news. Michelle has worked as an anchor and reporter for Bloomberg, CNN Money, CGTN and SABC.

Early Life and education[edit]

Born in Haifa, Israel, raised in Johannesburg, South Africa Makori is now an American citizen after living in New York for over a decade. Makori holds a Post Graduate Honors Degree in Media Studies and Journalism (with distinction), and a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Law and Psychology, both from South Africa’s University of the Witwatersrand. She graduated top of her class from South Africa’s Damelin Business School. Michelle also graduated from Allenby Film School with distinction. Makori combines business journalistic experience with Wall Street credibility, having received her FINRA financial adviser license (Series 7) and having worked with The Beryl Consulting Group, GFI and Context Capital.

Career[edit]

SABC Africa Television[edit]

Makori began her career in South Africa. She originally appeared as a presenter and field reporter on SABC Topsport South African Broadcasting Corporation’s National Sports Channel. She soon became one of the main anchors and producers for SABC Africa Television, based in Johannesburg South Africa and broadcasting throughout the African Continent. Makori was also an Anchor for “Business Focus” and “Business Update” Financial news programs on SABC 3, South African national broadcaster.[1]

Bloomberg Television[edit]

Makori moved to the USA in 2005 to join Bloomberg Television as an Anchor and Reporter. During her five-year tenure at Bloomberg, Makori interviewed political and business leaders from around the globe, initially joining as the “World & National News Anchor” during Bloomberg’s Morning news shows and then took on the role of “New York Business Anchor” during the Asian opening bell hours. Makori was also a contributor to Bloomberg’s Arts and Culture program “Muse”.[2]

CNN Money[edit]

After leaving Bloomberg Television Makori was a reporter for CNN Money.[3]

China Global Television Network[edit]

After CNN Money Makori joined China Central Television (now China Global Television Network), where she was a key member of the team that launched CCTV-America, China Central Television's U.S. based global English Channel. Makori was the New York-based Anchor and Producer of “Global Business America”, CCTV's flagship global economic and business news show. During her five years at CCTV, Makori anchored live coverage of major financial and economic events, such as the G20 Summit in China, Britain's Exit from the European Union, Alibaba's IPO, China's Financial Market Crash and the Greek Economic Crisis.[4]

i24 News[edit]

Michelle Makori is Anchor and Editor-in-Chief of the U.S.based programs on i24news, "ClearCut with Michelle Makori" and “ClearCut Plus with Michelle Makori.” As i24news' flagship show “ClearCut” is an insightful, straight-forward take on politics, economics, business and technology and how they intersect.
