ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII

what is acinetobacter baumanii?[edit]

Acinetobacter baumanii first time isolated in 1991 by bacteriologist Beijerinck. Acinetobacter baumannii is gram negative, rod shaped bacterium. It is dangerous to human being because of its pathogenicity.[1][edit]

Acinetobacter baumannii cause different diseases like Pneumonia , Urinary tract infections , Septicaemia (the disease in which bacteria enter into the bloodstream and cause blood poisoning) and meningitis.[edit]

the bacteria effects immunosuppressed person means the person who have weak immune system will be more effected from acinetobacter baumanni.[edit]

Acinetobacter infections have frequently been reported as a major of Nosocomial infection(infection you get while you're in the hospital for another reason)[edit]

Mode of transmission.[edit]

the bacterium is transmitted through direct and indirect contact (hands, medical materials or instruments) and also through contaminated water or foods.[edit]

The hospital environment could act as potential source for transmission of acinetobacter baumanii especially in intensive care unit (ICUs). The bacteria can affect the person who is with the patient or can also affect the doctors.[edit]

Types[edit]

1: Acinetobacter calcoaceticus[edit]

2: Acinetobacter lwoffii[edit]

These two types of acinetobacter baumanii also commonly cause infections.[edit]

Conclusion[edit]

The pathogenic bacteria acinetobacter baumanii cause disease and can transmitted through hospital environment .[edit]
