Mid Shropshire Wheelers
The Mid Shropshire Wheelers are a British Cycling Federation accredited cycling club based at the Shrewsbury Sports Village, Sundorne Road, Shrewsbury.[1]The organisation is chaired by Dave York and hosts cycling events around the county of Shropshire.[2] The club was founded in 1925.[3]
Activities[edit]
Members are able to take part in; Road Cycling, Bicycle Trials and Mountain Biking.[4]
Successful members[edit]
The club boasts both regional, national, international and Olympic champions.[5]
In an interview with the BBC downhill mountain biking champion Fionn Griffiths claimed that she discovered cycling after "decided to go to a local training day held by the Mid Shropshire Wheelers where I picked up my first race entry form."[6]
Venue[edit]
The club operates from a 1 kilometer floodlit, tarmacked, cycling track at Shrewsbury Sports Village.[7]

Membership is only available from the months of December to January.
Events[edit]
Shrewsbury cycling grand prix[edit]
A short-track street race that takes place around the center of Shrewsbury.[8]The course is 1.5 kilometers in length and runs from Shrewsbury's Square High Street through its town center via Barker Street to Claremont Bank before turnings along St Chad’s Terrace and up St John’s Hill, and Cross Hill. The course then follows College Hill to Princess Street and Milk Street before returning to the High Street.
Thursday evening time trials[edit]
The club regularly hosts time trials at it's 1 kilometer cycling track in Shrewsbury sports village.[9]
Sportives[edit]
The club regularly hosts group rides from a coffee shop in the center of Shresbury.[10]
Sunday series[edit]
The club hosts races every Sunday from their 1km track at Shrewsbury sports village.[11]
