The Middle Tennessee Cyber Conference is a cybersecurity conference held annually in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Approximately 400+ information technology and government professionals attend the conference each year.

Early history[edit]

Beginning in 2012, the conference was created by the TN Department of Safety and Homeland Security. [1] [2] [3] The Middle Tennessee Cyber Conference began as a one-day session that covered cybersecurity topics from subject matter experts in cybersecurity. The conference had subject matter experts from government and private enterprises presenting on day one. During this time, the conference began an educational Capture the Flag on day two of the event. [4]

Recent history[edit]

The last in-person event was 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 conference had virtual interviews, blog entries, and virtual Capture the Flag events. The conference is scheduled to be in-person September 13 -14, 2022. [5] The conference will host 400+ private and public sector attendees.

Content[edit]

The Middle Tennessee Cyber Conference is an event that takes place annually in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Focused on education, the conference provides internet safety, physical security, cybersecurity, cybersecurity trends, enterprise network security, and cyber education. The Middle Tennessee Cyber Conference also interviews subject matter experts throughout the year. [6]

The last in-person conference was held in 2019 and had 2 keynotes, 10 speakers, and 20 exhibitors. The conference is specifically focused on education to a diverse audience of government, private industry, and educational attendees.

Capture the Flag[edit]

The Middle Tennessee Cyber Conference provides a Capture the Flag (CtF) [7]on day two of their annual event for educating security analysts. The CtF is made up of real-world servers, SCADA, IoT, and other hardware that have security vulnerabilities. Challenges include capturing keys, defacing websites, capturing SQL data, and more.
