Mihails Suliks (Latvian: Mihails Šuliks, Russian: Михаил Шулик) is a Soviet-born Latvian business person.[1] He is a shareholder of the Mono holding, a co-owner of the company Staysafe Security Systems LLC.[1][2]

Biography

Mihails Suliks was born in the 1960s in the city of Liepāja in Soviet Latvia. As a child, he was involved in various sports such as swimming, football, basketball and volleyball. His mother worked as a head librarian and managed to instill in her son a love of books. Among his favorite authors were such prominent writers as Jules Verne, Alexander Belyaev, the Strugatsky brothers, Conan Doyle, Jack London, as well as the book by Grivadiy Gorpozhaksas "Jean Green the Untouchable". Mihails learned to play the guitar from the famous Latvian teacher Austra Pumpure. He later founded his own school band.

From the age of ten, with the help of a VEF receiver and the Voice of America radio station, he began to listen to famous foreign performers and groups such as The Beatles, The Queen, Slade, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix and others. In the 10th grade, Mihails Suliks moved to Riga and tried sea pentathlon, later becoming a member of the Latvian national team. At the age of 14, Mihails Suliks, during the school holidays, began to try to earn "pocket expenses", as it was then customary to say. He managed to work as a grain receiver, a loader in a department store, and also packed elastic bandages.

After graduating from school, Mihails Suliks entered the Latvian State Institute of Physical Education, but studied there for a short time. After passing the courses of light divers in the defense and sports organization DOSAAF, he was drafted into the army, where he served 2 years in the engineering troops. He was demobilized with the rank of senior sergeant, diver, instructor of a sapper.

He graduated from the courses of sailors-minders, earned money as a port loader. He got a job in the port of Riga as a diver. Mihails later had a serious car accident with his motorcycle, after which he spent six months in the hospital and during another year he learned to walk again. His diving career was over.

To this day, Mihails Suliks is guided by the principle laid down in his early years by his father Vyacheslav, whose idea is the following words:

Children owe nothing to their parents, since a child pays tribute to his mother and father to his own children.

Suliks also adheres to the principles in business, believing that a person can be deceived once, but business with him must be done all his life. In his working affairs, he is helped by intuition, which he calls a chuyka. The enemy of the internal filter, according to Mihails, is only common sense, which sometimes interferes with intuition.

Business activity

Mihails Suliks, together with Alexander Plotkin, Mikhail Ulman and Biomins Kaems, founded the consulting firm MONALD.[2] The company is engaged in business and management consulting. In 2004 MONALD became the most efficient company in Latvia.[2] According to the statistics for 2004, the profit per employee in the company amounted to 182.90 LVL (profit per employee shows the efficiency of using the company's employees).[2]

MONALD is a limited liability company (Latvian: sabiedrība ar ierobežotu atbildību, SIA).[3] The company is headquartered in Riga, the capital of Latvia.[3]

Mihails Suliks is also a co-owner of the Latvian-American joint venture Staysafe Security Systems LLC, registered in 1992. The main specialization of this company is the activity of Private Security Services. The company is also located in Riga.[4]

Personal life

Mihails is currently retired. He loves animals and admits that he will never become a hunter. He believes that the only exception may be the fact that life itself will force him to get food to feed his family. Mihails is also interested in music. Among his favorite musical styles, he singles out rock and drive. Mihails prefers tactical computer games, outdoor cooking and Texas poker.[5] During the poker tournament "Betsafe.com Rigged in Riga", organized in Latvia, he took an honorable second place.[5]
