Michael Bodie, known professionally as Mike Bodie, is an American comedian, actor, and voiceover artist.[1] based in England. He is a founder of the comedy troupe and theatre company Mischief Theatre[2] along with Josh Elliott, Dave Hearn, Harry Kershaw, and Henry Lewis.
Personal life[edit]
Bodie has spoken briefly about his life on the Mischief Makers podcast[3], a podcast created by Dave Hearn during the Covid-19 pandemic which explored the lives of everyone involved in Mischief Theatre[4].
He was born in the United States and moved to Germany with his parents when he was 5 years old[3]. When he was 12, he moved to the United Kingdom and attended Windsor Castle School for 6 months before attending the English branch of The American School in Switzerland, where he also worked as a groundskeeper[3].
Bodie was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 15 which was thought to be due to a childhood head trauma[3]
Bodie is very active outdoors and regularly goes hiking and camping[3].
Mischief Theatre[edit]
Bodie attended the foundation acting course at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2008 and later went on to form the comedy troupe and theatre company Mischief Theatre along with classmates Josh Elliott, Dave Hearn, Harry Kershaw, Henry Lewis[5][6][7]. It originally began as an improvisational group under the name The Scat Pack[8]. They performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2008 with their show Lights! Camera! Improvise![9] which has now become Mischief Movie Night. Whilst they are more well known for their Goes Wrong series (The Play That Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, The Goes Wrong Show, Magic Goes Wrong) and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, Bodie is mostly involved in the improvisational work.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Bodie was interviewed by fellow member Dave Hearn for the Mischief Makers podcast[4][3]. In December 2020 to August 2021, the company performed their live improvised show Mischief Movie Night[10] online (dubbed Mischief Movie Night In to reflect the audience being in lockdown and watching from their own homes) in December 2020 to August 2021, in which the audience gave suggestions of genres, locations, film titles, characters, and moments via Zoom and social media that would influence the course of the 'movie'.
Professional career[edit]
Aside from Mischief Theatre, Bodie is an actor, voiceover artist, and motion capture artist for several television series, films, and video games. He provides the introductory voiceover for both the Mischief Makers podcast and Mischief Movie Night In. Some of his clients include Bethesda, Ubisoft, and EA[11]
