Mike Enskat
Mike Enskat is a German energy and development policy specialist. He has served as Director of the International Renewable Energy Agency's Innovation and Technology Centre (IITC) in Bonn, Germany, since December 2025.[1]
Career
Enskat worked at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), where he held roles related to international energy and infrastructure programmes. In 2024, GIZ identified him as Head of Infrastructure – Energy, Water, Mobility.[2][3][4]
In December 2025, Enskat became Director of the International Renewable Energy Agency's Innovation and Technology Centre in Bonn. In this position, he works on issues related to renewable energy innovation and technology.[5][6][7]
In 2026, Enskat was interviewed by Process Worldwide in his capacity as Director of the IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre, discussing carbon capture, renewable-based electrification, and the energy transition.[8]
