Mike Gabler (born September 4, 1970), also known by just his surname Gabler,[1] is an American heart valve specialist and television personality[2][3] known for competing on and winning the 43rd season of the American reality TV competition series Survivor[4]. After being named the winner, Gabler declared that he would donate "100%" of the million dollar prize[5] to charities[6][7] supporting veterans.[8][9][10][11]
Survivor
Though he struggled to maintain a good position while on Baka,[12] Gabler would get past this by successfully voting out his rival Elie Scott. From there, Gabler would play a low-key game, juggling multiple alliances without ever being targeted by any of them. After winning the fire-making challenge against Jesse Lopez,[13] Gabler delivered a strong case at Final Tribal Council[14] that emphasized his strategy of hiding in plain sight. Gabler's strong social game and ability to flip alliances without being caught ultimately won him the title of Sole Survivor in a 7-1-0 vote. He is one of only two winners in Survivor history over 50,[15] and is the only one in 43 seasons to be the oldest contestant of his winning season.[16]
