Michael Castro (born May 21, 1984), also known as Mike Kosa, is a Filipino rapper and the former co-founder of Dongalo Records. Along with his manager, Andrew E., Mike Kosa is the former co-founder of Dongalo Records.
Early life
Mike Kosa was born in Tondo, Manila on May 21, 1984. He started rapping when he was 16 years old, and 10 years later, he participated in a Filipino hip-hop game called Fliptop.
Music career
2001: Career and "Rap Olympics"
Mike Kosa started rapping when he was 16 years old and he participated in a freestyle rapping challenge called "Rap Olympics". "I was one of the finalists at the Freestyle Battle and also was proclaimed "Best Costume" due to our "Orange Jumpsuit Prison Wear" with my partner Dj Jon DMJ as Dos Talentos. It was the first time that we've joined a rap contest that was also aired by IBC 13 and Destiny Cable," Mike Kosa declares.
2002-2004: Dongalo Records
When Andrew E. believed in Mike Kosa's talent, he was hired as a co-founder of the Filipino recording company called "Dongalo Records". Two years later, he decided to pursue his own career and he resigned from Dongalo Records.
2005-2008: "Ako ang Hari ng Sabi"
After Mike resigned from Dongalo Records, he released his first track, "My Game" in April 2006 and it was ranked 1st all over in the Tondo region. Another track, "Lakas ng Tama" in July 2006. His third track, "All-star" in February 2007. His fourth track was "No Album Got Skills" in July 2007. Limang Ulo is the last and bonus track that was released in March 2008, and his album named "Ako ang Hari ng Sabi" was released in May 2008.
2009-2013: "Mga Grupo ng Liberal"
A year later after his first album was released, he released his first track "Ganto Lang" in August 2009. "Sa Lansangan", his second track, was released in March 2010. "Estranghero" was released in January 2012, his third track. "Partners in Rhyme" his fourth track was released in June 2012. "Kaya Mo" his fifth track was released in September 2012. "Ganyan" his last and bonus track was released in April 2013, and the album named "Mga Grupo ng Liberal" was released in July 2013.
2013-present: Ikaw Humampas
After a month later, Mike was declared as the King of Pinoy Rap in Tondo because of his skill in street rapping, and he released two albums. He resigned again from Dongalo Records.
2010-present: Fliptop
Mike Kosa joined the Filipino hip-hop game called Fliptop where he has won.
