Michael Edmund Salcedo is an American animator, voice actor, writer and director.

Early life and education

Salcedo grew up in South Korea and is a self-taught animator who first began by experimenting with stop-motion claymation. His animation career began at age 14, influenced by the Flash animation style of Newgrounds animator Robert Benfer. He later moved to 2D animation after getting a drawing tablet. He attended Nolan Catholic High School and Texas Tech University before graduating from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2014, where he was involved in the Animation Guild.

Career

Cyanide & Happiness

Salcedo has a long-standing association with Explosm Entertainment and their webcomic and animated series, Cyanide & Happiness. He works as a writer, animator, and director, and has lent his voice to numerous shorts and episodes of The Cyanide & Happiness Show.

Alphabet Lore and Number Lore

In 2003, Salcedo started a "daily animating exercise" that would evolve into the Alphabet Lore series on his YouTube channel. The videos went viral, causing his channel to grow rapidly and gain millions of views. The series is a serialized, story-driven animation based on the letters of the Latin alphabet.[1] The success led to a sequel series, Number Lore.

Other projects

Salcedo runs a webcomic series called Bigfoot Justice, which he started in 2014.

He is the creator of the 2020 web series The Stockholms, for which he also writes, directs, and provides voice acting.[2]

Accolades

In 2008, Salcedo was a prizewinner at the Nicktoons Greater Creator Award competition. In 2012, his animation "When a Cat Catches a Laser Pointer" won first place at the Industry Giants Student Animation Competition.
