Mike Sherm (Rapper)[edit]
Michael Sherman aka Mike Sherm is a west coast rapper born September 30th, 1996 in Oakland California but grew up in Antioch California. He is local to the Bay area and reportedly is not signed to a label. Sherman started rapping early and can be seen free-styling at Freedom High School on YouTube [1]. He started as a Soundcloud and Youtube rapper being traced back to 2011 and continues to make music on YouTube[2]. He frequently collaborates with G-Bo lean, and tends to collaborate with a few artists on his tracks. He is best known for songs Asshole - 84,094,698 (platinum)[3] Baby - 54,347,176 Hot Nigga - 45,246,342.[4] Sherman Did a tribute to Antioch legend rapper “Woodie” on his song: Mike Sherm 32 bars which blew up, now has almost 7 million streams on Spotify and 7.5 million on SoundCloud. Sherman Created the best verses series on YouTube bringing an audience of rappers and supporters boosting his subscriber and view count.
Life & Career[edit]
In 2016, Mike Sherm was reportedly caught in a crossfire and shot in the face. He later referenced the incident in his 2017 single "Cookies," saying "I don't mess with these people for a reason, got hit up in the face and I'm still good shout out Jesus." Before that, he was involved in "groupie activities" but eventually grew tired of it and stopped participating. According to an interview with The Cali Kickback, Mike Sherm doesn't do many features because he spends more time on his own craft. He sometimes goes months without dropping new music due to writer's block. His most recent single, "Cooch," was released on March 19th, and he was featured on Azchike's "Numbers" on March 7th. His last single before that, "Squirt Squad Cream Team," was released on November 17th of last year. He has been in the music industry for around 7 years.
Mike Sherm gained popularity with his "best verses" series around 2013-14. He then started a media outlet where he would upload music for artists and mixtapes that weren't on YouTube. People began to contact him to upload their music, and he started charging for the service, which turned into a business. He used to drop a song on the first day of each year at the beginning of his career. He began doing shows when people reached out to him, but he often rejected offers to perform, claiming he wasn't in the mood or that he "can't give them too much." He checks promoters' resumes when they reach out, but he doesn't trust younger, inexperienced promoters as much. His worst experiences have been when events get cancelled or when he doesn't get paid, so he always asks for a deposit to prevent this. In 2024, he was invited to perform at Rolling Loud in Inglewood, CA.[5]
Fans often expect Mike Sherm to show up when G-bo Lean, his close friend and fellow rapper, gets booked for a show, and vice versa. They grew up together in Antioch. Their song "Sideshow," which also features PlayaPosseStacks, has over one million views on YouTube. Mike Sherm's first track ever posted on SoundCloud 9 years ago, "Backshots," also featured G-bo Lean. Their friendship remains strong through communication, and they don't let pay from bookings cause conflict. Mike Sherm puts a lot of his money into buying properties because he never really liked spending his money, so he invests it in something if he does spend it. He has a young son, his first child. He claims he had a child because he "got bored" and had baby fever after seeing his sister with her baby. He felt like having a child was missing in his life, as he had an empty home.[6]
