Mike Vandersteen (born 1960) is an Republican politician and businessman who is currently serving as mayor of Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
Early life, education and early career[edit]
Vandersteen attended University of Wisconsin-Green Bay for two years and was the manager of the DuBois Formalwear store.[1]
Political career[edit]
Vandersteen served on the Sheboygan County Board of Supervisors from 1996 to 2012. He challenged Terry Van Akkeren for mayor of the City of Sheboygan in 2013 and won, receiving 51% of the votes to Van Akkeren's 48%.
In April 2017, Vandersteen overwhelmingly won re-election bid against challenger John Belanger.[2] In November 2020, he announced he was seeking a third term as mayor.[3] Vandersteen will face City Council President Ryan Sorenson in the mayoral election in April 2021.[4]
