From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Mikel Maria Delgado is certified applied animal behaviorist[1], author, cat behavior consultant, and researcher. She is author of Play With Your Cat[2] and coauthor with Jackson Galaxy of Total Cat Mojo[3]. She has contributed to veterinary texts such as the Clinical Handbook of Veterinary Behavior Medicine[4] and is on the expert panel at Rover[5].

After dropping out of college, Mikel moved to California where she worked at a health food cooperative and played bass guitar in punk rock bands[6]. In 2000, she began volunteering at an animal shelter and eventually became an employee. She worked there until she returned to school to complete her bachelor of arts degree in psychology from California State University East Bay in 2010[7].

Mikel earned her PhD in psychology with an emphasis on animal behavior and cognition from the University of California Berkeley in 2017[6]. After completing her degree, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California Davis[8]. Her published research includes a range of topics such as food puzzles for cats[9], feline feeding behavior[10][11][12], kitten social behavior[13], and human cat interactions[14][15][16]. While her research primarily focuses on cats, she has published work on canine behavior[17] and general animal welfare[18].

Mikel contributed to the veterinary consensus guidelines on lower urinary tract disease in cats[19].
