Mikko Kärkkäinen (born 1975) is a Finnish entrepreneur and business executive known for his contributions to supply chain management and retail technology. He co-founded and currently serves as the CEO of RELEX Solutions, a company specializing in retail optimization solutions.[1][2][3][4][5]

Early life and education[edit]

Kärkkäinen received his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering and Management from Helsinki University of Technology in 2000.[6][7] He completed his PhD in supply chain management from the same university in 2005.[1][8][9]

Career[edit]

Kärkkäinen began his career as a Supply Chain Consultant at Sedecon Consulting from 1998 to 2001.[6][10]

From 2004 to 2005, he served as a Project Manager at the Helsinki University of Technology BIT Research Centre, focusing on research in supply chain optimization and computer-aided ordering in logistics.[6][10][11]

In 2005, Kärkkäinen co-founded RELEX Solutions along with Johanna Småros and Michael Falck.[12][13][14][15][16] He has been a member of the board of directors at Retail Logistics Excellence – RELEX Oy since 2006.[6]

In 2022, Kärkkäinen and his co-founders established the "RELEX Foundation for a Better Future," a charity foundation addressing climate change, inequality, and poverty.[17][12][18][19]

Kärkkäinen has authored thirty papers and is a keynote speaker on logistics and supply chain topics.[1][20][21][9][22]

Awards and recognition[edit]

In 2018, Kärkkäinen was named Provider Pro to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive.[23] In 2023, he won a Pros to Know award from the same organization.[24]
