Milad Safabakhsh (Persian: میلاد صفابخش‎)[1] was born on April 5, 1986 in Kerman, Iran.[2] He received his diploma in graphics from the Kerman Academy of Fine Arts in 2003. After that, he worked in the field of graphics for 9 years. In 2012, he entered Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman in the field of hand-woven Persian Carpet design, and received his bachelor's degree after 4 years. Carpet and carpet design has always had a special place for him, although he never followed the carpet professionally.

Career[edit]

In 2010, Milad first became acquainted with minimalist photography on a Facebook page, and because of his interest in shape and form, as well as his knowledge of graphics, he became interested in this style and tried to take minimalist photos of the walls and shadows around him with his mobile phone for fun. His interest gradually grew and he bought his first digital camera, which was Canon 600d. He soon achieved many successes in this field of photography, which can be mentioned in a few examples: Winning prestigious international awards.[3] Judging of international festivals.[4][5] Exhibition in international Art galleries.[6] Teaching at Kerman University of Applied Science and Technology. Interview with prestigious websites.[7][8]

B&W Minimalism Magazine[edit]

Milad Safabakhsh published the first issue of Black and White Minimalism Magazine at home in 2016.[9] After 5 years, Minimalist Magazine is still the only specialized magazine in the field of black and white photography with a minimalist approach, which has been able to make many photography lovers interested in this style, and the number of fans of this style of photography is increasing every day.[10]

Minimalist Photography Awards[edit]

Milad launched the annual Minimalist Photography Awards contest in 2019 with the support of Black and White Minimalism Photography Magazine.[11] In the first round of the competition, more than 3,400 photos from 45 different countries were sent to the Secretariat. It has become one of the most prestigious photography contests that publishes its call in March every year.[12]
