Discontinued Bus Vehicles (1996-2006)[edit]
4000-4099: The 4000–4099 series of New Flyer's first delivery to the MCTS bus fleet, the D40LFs were in 1996 as brown seated, non-clean air buses which were replaced by newer, clean air buses in August 2010. Some of these buses were carried to the Kenosha Area Transit and Shoreline Metro Transit bus fleets, while most were scrapped and auctioned off.
4100-4145: The 4100 series New Flyer D40LFs were MCTS bus vehicles delivered in 1997. They were removed from service in 2010, being replaced by the 5100–5189 series 2010 New Flyer D40LFRs.
4200-4208: The 4200 series New Flyer D30LFs were 30-foot MCTS bus vehicles delivered in 1999. They were removed from service by November 2010 later after the 5100 series replaced them.
4300-4389: The 4300 series New Flyer D40LFs were MCTS vehicles delivered in 2000. They were all retired by May–June 2011 when the 5200 series D40LFRs entered service. At a point, 4304, 4305, 4320, 4329 and 4348 returned to service but retired after that.
4400-4468: The 4400 series New Flyer D40LFs were MCTS vehicles delivered in 2001. They were all retired by March–April 2012 when the 5300 series D40LFRs were delivered. For Summerfest 2017, 4417, 4434 and 4466 briefly returned to service and retired after that.
4500-4519: The 4500 series New Flyer D30LFs were MCTS bus vehicles delivered in Late 2001. They were all retired by August 2013 when the 5400 series New Flyer XD40s came to service and replaced them. A few buses carried to Shoreline Metro Transit, unknown fleet numbers.
4600-4639: The 4600 series New Flyer D40LFs were MCTS bus vehicles delivered in April 2002. They were all retired by Late August 2015 after some buses (4607, 4614, 4617, 4626, 4632, 4633 & 4639) were converted as fare collection buses at the Wisconsin State Fair Park for 2 seasons (2014–2015).
4700-4750: The 4700 series New Flyer D40LFs were MCTS vehicles delivered in February 2003. Some were retired in 2017, while one bus served at Summerfest in 2017 and then retired after that. All buses were retired by July 11, 2019 after the brand new 2019 Gillig Advantage BRT buses were delivered to replace these buses. 4740, 4742, 4746 were the only buses left in the 4700 series as of Late June 2019 to be retired.
4800-4829: The 4800 series New Flyer D40LFs were MCTS bus vehicles delivered in January 2004. 4801 was used as a Summerfest information bus in 2019. As of July 12, 2019 all 4800 series buses were officially taken out of revenue service, ending a 15-year run. 4801, 4803, 4804, 4808, 4810, 4817–4819, 4822-4825 and 4827-4829 were the only buses left as of Late June 2019 to be retired in July 2019. #4824 was sold to a dealership in Milwaukee, WI
4900-4914: The 4900 series New Flyer D40LFs were MCTS bus vehicles delivered in October 2004. 4901, 4902, 4905, 4906, 4909-4912 and 4914 were the only buses active as of June 25, 2019. As of July 23, 2019 all 4900 series buses were officially taken out of revenue service due to the Gillig Advantage BRT buses, ending a 14 and a half year run. 4907 retired due to a bus accident in September 2018 at 13 years and 11 months of age.
5000–5008. The 5000 series New Flyer D40LFs were MCTS buses delivered in January 2006. A future purchase of 23 buses (5009-5031) were canceled due to service and budget cuts. 5000-5007 were the only buses to be discontinued as of Late June 2019. As of July 23, 2019 all the 5000 Series buses New Flyer D40LFs were officially taken out of revenue service, ending a 13-year run. 5008 retired in 2015 due to a fatal collision, and due to the fact that it had engine issues.
